TECHNIQUES

Impulse Adjuster

Is an American developed device designed to deliver gentle and precise chiropractic adjustments. It is run by a microcomputer found in the instrument that delivers a direct and controlled force to the area it is applied. Its main purpose is to restore function to the joint it is applied to and to relieve pain. The Impulse Adjuster is safe to use on all ages from infancy to geriatrics.

Dry Needling

A technique where acupuncture needles are placed in varying myofascial trigger points in the body in order to improve pain control, reduce muscle tension, normalise biochemical and electrical dysfunction of motor end plates, and facilitate an accelerated return to active rehabilitation.

Chiropractic Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure where a chiropractor uses their hands to apply a controlled gentle and specific force to a joint. The purpose of an adjustment is to correct structural alignment and to improve your body’s physical function.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is put in direct contact with the client’s skin. Ultrasound gel is used on all surfaces of the head in order to reduce friction and assist in the transmission of the ultrasonic waves. Ultrasound has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow and scar tissue breakdown. The effect of the increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation.

Interferential Current (IFC)

Interferential current therapy (IFC) is an effective therapy option to relieve pain and accelerate the self-healing process. Electrodes are placed on your skin around the injured body part. The IFC device then transmits electrical impulses in minute quantities through your skin. Underlying tissue and nerves are stimulated which begins the healing properties.  Frequencies produced by the IFC have been proven to stimulate endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers. This form of therapy is also extremely useful in reducing pain, inflammation, reducing oedema and spasms.

Strapping and Taping

Kinesio Taping and strapping can aid recovery of joint pain and injuries, and assist injury prevention. The Kinesio Taping Method is believed to cause physiological effects on several body systems. The systems affected by the body are thought to include the circulatory/lymphatic, neural, muscular, and fascial systems, as well as the joints. Kinesio Taping is currently being used by therapists to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and improve posture.
